Marina is a friend of Kenta, as she too begins her Pokémon journey in New Bark Town. Marina is a show off and a typical clueless girl. She captures Pokémon, and gives them their own nicknames. She also one day wants to meet Wataru of the Elite Four.
Marina is also the female trainer from the Pokémon Crystal Game Boy game.
Marina was featured in an animé special, along with her friend Kenta. The Japanese special was Poketto Monsutaa Kurisutaru: Raikou Kaminari no Densetsu (Lighting Raikou's Legend). In this special, Marina comes across Kenta, as he is battling to save Raikou from being captured by Team Rocket. Marina tells Raikou to escape, after they are captured by Team Rocket. After Raikou is safe, Marina leaves her friend and continues to travel through Johto.
